Our last night in Paris we went to a concert of Vivaldi's Four Seasons at St. Chapelle. It was beautiful, amazing, transcendant, spiritual and one of those moments I will remember for the rest of my life. I honestly felt honored to hear that music in that chapel built in the 1200's by order of King Louis IX. Our second row seats weren't bad either.
Do we look like we were just crying a little bit? Cuz we totally were.
The music that I don't think I was supposed to photograph. They took all of it away really quickly and you can actually see the stage hand's hand reaching for it in the left hand corner.
My view when I looked up.....kinda. For some reason blogger keeps rotating the picture up like this.
I could tell the cellist felt very honored to be playing there as well. He kept looking up at his surroundings when he wasn't playing like he couldn't believe he was actually getting to play there. At one point I even saw him mouth "wow" to himself.
The soloist we saw is the guy in the right hand corner. We decided he is the genetic link between John Travolta and Enrique Iglesias, not to mention a phenominal violinist.
I actually found a video of part of the performance on his website if you want to check it out. I think there were three performances and this one, unfortunately, was not from our night. But, it gives you a good idea of what we saw. To check it out click here (FYI- after you click the link, a video screen comes up on his website. Put your mouse on the screen, then click the number 02 at the bottom of the little screen to see the St. Chapelle concert. It automatically goes to his 01 video first.)
